What is the first amendment?
The first amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting and establishment of religion, ensuring that there is no prohibition on the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibiting the petitioning for a government redness of grievances.

The first amendment relates to student journalists because writing helps us express our feelings and it has something to do with the freedom of speech for us to be able to speak our minds, but there are certain things that we can't say.
