This article is talking about Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmette not having a pumpkin patch this year. This is where my mom and I get our pumpkins every year since I was about five years old. So, reading this article has made me really sad. We will have to find a new place to get our pumpkins this year.

My mom and I would get a red wagon and we would walk through the huge yard next to the church and fill the wagon with pumpkins and decorations and corn stocks. We would then go home with all of our fun fall decorations. Last year, we took our pumpkins to my grandparents house and carve them with my grandparents. We made a big mess

You wouldn’t think that pumpkins would have much cultural effect on my world but I was talking to my mom and we starting talking about helping others. Without buying pumpkins, the church may not be able to help as many people this year as they did last year. In the Jewish religion, we practice “Tzedukah”, charitable giving. I have not thought about how buying pumpkins and Tzedukah were connected. My mom and I thought about other ways we could give Tzedukah this year. We are going to find a place to buy pumpkins this year with a similar mission.
