Diagnostic

Criterion-based
It measures work/performance against certain outcomes or goals. Often a rubric is a key element.

Normative (norm-referenced)
An evaluation based on what is normal (mean) for the age/grade/etc.
Ipsative
Measures performance against a student’s previous work. Is there growth?
