  • He planned to do a 100 laps around his house before he turned 100 years old.
  • He was hoping to raise $1250, and was surprised when he got more! A lot of people donated, I haven’t heard how much he has today but he raised $19, 834, 285 as of April 16!
  • He is doing another 100 laps now

  • I think the author’s purpose was to explain and describe, because she explained why Tom is doing this and describing how he’s doing it.

Why is this newsworthy?

  • This is newsworthy because a lot of people have been trying to help during this time, so I think we should appreciate what people are doing.
  • Tom Moore did something great. He walked around his house a hundred times before turned 100 on April 30, 2020 to raise money for British healthcare workers.
  • And he did! And he raised lots of money for the cause doing it.

Why did i choose this article?

  • Well, I liked what Tom was doing, why he was doing it, and how he did it out of the kindness of his heart.
