when you kick a soccer ball, the muscles used are the upper leg, the quadriceps and hamstrings, as well as the glutes and the core.

Quadriceps

  • muscles on the front of your leg
  • the main job is to extend the knee and flex the hip
  • when you begin the kick, your knee is flexed and your hips are extended
  • when you follow through, it's the exact opposite.

Hamstring

  • located on the back of your upper leg
  • the quadriceps are comprised of three different muscles, which extend the hip and flex the knee. (when you bring your leg back)

Glutes and Core

  • the glutes rotate and extend the hip while kicking the ball
  • core muscles are used to keep the upper body tight and rigid
