Thomas Barrett was convicted at the old bailey.
He stole 1 silver watch, 1 steel chain, 1 stone seal, one metal watch key, 1 hook, 2 shirts and one shift.

Thomas Barrett was born in 1758 in London. He had an English nationality. He was know for creating the Charlotte medal.

His sentence was commuted from death to transportation to America for life.

In 1784 Thomas was sent aboard the Mercury bound for Nova Scotia.

Barrett was a ringleader in the Mercury Mutiny in April 1784.

He was recaptured and sentenced to death but since he had interviewed to save the stewards life he was reproved and given transportation to New South Wales.

In February 1788 Thomas Barrett was hanged for stealing beef and peas. He was the first man executed by hanging in New South Wales.

He died on the 27 of February 1788. He was 30 years of age.
