PRESENTATION OUTLINE
53.9% of females in Kent and Medway would like to do more sport than they do currently.
Sport doesn’t currently feel relevant for most women, but many would consider giving something a go if the offer was right.
Most women know that sport and exercise is a good thing to do, but don’t feel they can prioritise it over other competing needs.
A truly inclusive coach is able to positively influence a variety of women and girls who may have
diverse needs and backgrounds.
Providing the right welcome will help to reduce resistance and ensure that women feel that taking part in sport and exercise is an acceptable and achievable thing to do.
Reduce the fear of being exposed as lacking ability or familiarity with the process, equipment, or the way to the changing room.
Provide detailed information, not just the basics on timings and venues, but also what sort of clothing is required, changing facilities available, childcare etc.
Build self-confidence by providing a positive first experience, and continue to support participants’ progression, achievement and sense of belonging.
