ICE pACKS

THE pROCESS

  • After testing multiple different combinations of chemicals to figure out the best possible combination. We decided on Potassium Chloride.

THE pROCESS

  • After deciding on Potassium Chloride we had to figure out the best ratio to get the coldest temperature for the longest amount of time.

THE PROCESS

  • We decided on 12 grams of Potassium Chloride and 24 milliliters of water. It stayed under 15° for 15 minutes.

THE PROCESS

  • The ice pack stayed cold for 15 minutes.
  • Potassium Chloride costs 17.95 per 500 grams
  • .48 per ice pack

THE PROCESS

  • The ice pack will be made out of plastic
  • We will put the water in the balloon and the KCl in the baggie.

This is the coldest temperature each one got to.

SAFETY

  • This ice pack can be safely stored anywhere.
  • KCl is not harmful to skin, but may cause irritation when in eyes of mouth.
  • For this reason keep away from children.
