HISTORY/BACKGROUND

  • Law was practiced in the 15th century by the Greeks before it was practiced in the United States .
  • The Romans and Greeks were the first to officially practice law and presented their own cases. The Romans were the first to have people as the jury. There were no official judge or attorney.

  • The demand for lawyer rises because of the issues that rises in our society, such as crime,insurance,etc.
  • Famous lawyers: Johnnie Cochran, Robert Kardashian, Mark Geragos, Dean Strang, and Jerry Buting

REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN

  • Becoming a lawyer requires 3 years of law school and 4 years of college. In order to get into law school you must have a good SAT score and pass the bar exam to determine if this is the right career for you.

  • College degrees that are needed to become a lawyer are a Juris Degree(J.D.), Bachelors Degree, and a Law Degree.
  • Any college in the United States have law as a major.

  • Related careers are paralegals, legal executive,court clerks, court reporters, outside clerks,etc.
  • Skills need for this career are writing, reading, researching, speaking, logical, and analytical skills.

  • Lawyers are known as attorney. Lawyers represent clients in criminal civil court proceedings.

  • Lawyers work 40 hours per week and they work inside a courtroom or office.
  • Lawyers are not allowed to wear gym shoes or v-necks. They're allowed to wear suits, closed toe shoes and little jewelry. Female lawyers must have their hair pulled to the back.

  • This career has not been affected by the current economic downturn because there are a ton of jobs that require lawyers help.

  • This job is hard to get into because there are more law graduates than law jobs.
  • Companies that offer positions for this type of business are banks, hospitals, insurance, oil forms, etc.

CONCLUSION

  • Lawyers are important to society because they are beneficial and they solve issues.
  • I do not think this career is for me because I would not be able to deal with murder cases, rape cases, etc.
