Bacteria can be good and bad, but no matter what it impacts us everyday.

E coli (Bad)

  • This bacteria can be deadly to humans. It lives in the intestines of all warm blood animals, so it is a very common bacterium. While harmless to the cows it lives in, E coli when eaten may be deadly to us.

Salmonella

  • Salmonella is a harmful bacterium that can cause food poisoning. This is a huge impact to us, as it causes problems in our body. This bacterium can be killed by cooking and cleaning the food that you eat, along with the countertops.

STREPTOCOCCUS SALIVARIUS (Good)

  • This is a bacterium that positively impacts our lives. Located on the tongue, with 7,947 species, this bacterium helps prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and throat infections.

  • This is another example of a positive impact from bacteria. This bacteria lies as 33,627 species inside the large intestine. This bacteria helps us eat more types of food by digesting starches from plants.
