How do teachers use their plans?

  • Decompress?
  • Eat chocolate and drink plenty of caffeine?
  • Read the paper?
  • Check the latest Pintrest posts?

Some ideas to consider...

  • Select a tool to plan your week
  • Set specific blocks of times to accomplish task
  • Set Priorities
  • Have a meeting with yourself
1)Google doc template, portfolio
2) Every teacher has 5 days to plan
3))Boosting Student attendance, improving culture, classroom management, parental contact
4) Clear your desk, think about what went wrong and what worked

What will you do in your free time, before school, lunch after school

Be aware that they will have
parent Meeting/IEP Meetings, conferences and appointments

Lesson Plans/Webpage

  • Plan or look ahead for what is coming in curriculum
  • Know the Indicators (TLE)

Indicators

  • As you prepare your lessons you need to know what you need to succeed
  • Plan ahead with these and have them readily available

Copies

  • Have a copy folder or thumb drive ready for copies
  • Be at least three days or a week ahead on copies - refrain from that last minute rush to the copy room
  • Paperless classroom? have copies ready to be posted

Reinforcement/Adjustments

  • Analyze what you need to reinforce/reteach in your classes
  • When and how do I fit this into my plans?
  • Document these adjustment on lesson plans

Parental Contact

  • Emails
  • Phone calls
  • Throw in some praise calls - make a challenge each week to do this!

Grading

  • Set aside a block of time or days in which you grade during planning time

PLC

  • Consider questions for meetings
  • Prepare suggestions for team or celebrations from your classes
  • Look at students in which you may have concerns

  • No matter how you plan, you must consider how you use your time and how you can make it beneficial to yourself

Of course...

  • a little chocolate and caffeine never hurts
  • as well as, a minute to decompress will help you focus on your planning time
