Welcome to ms. martin's fifth grade class!

  • While you’re waiting for us to start, please look over the papers in the folder. If you’d like to start filling out the ones on the return to school side of the folder, that would be great!
  • If you like to go by some name other than what I have on your folder, please write it on the sticky note on your desk so I can make the changes for you later!

MATH

  • Enterprise City Schools is continuing with the math program called Investigations. This program is designed to provide multiple strategies to build a concrete foundation of understanding for all learners. Students will be given daily grades and test grades to make up their quarterly average. In addition to math assignments in the math practice book, students will also be given assignments on IXL and XtraMath to help with math facts practice.

SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Social Studies Weekly Nobody teaches the history of our great nation, or our state, with more care and passion than Studies Weekly! Its unique approach to teaching combines a fun and engaging format kids love with a concise teaching program. The publications have been proven to raise test scores, so the students will be prepared when it comes to required state testing. In most cases, Studies Weekly covers 100% of national and state social studies standards. Plus, every Studies Weekly periodical contains fun and challenging activities that will be used for in-class assignments. However, unlike a textbook, students can mark and highlight right on their very own pages.

HOMEWORK
All assignments are posted on the board and explained in detail. The students will be responsible for copying the assignments down in their weekly planner and turning in the assignment by the due date. Any assignment that is not finished in class is to be completed at home. Homework might also be short, overnight assignments or long term assignments such as reports or projects. Overnight assignments are given to practice skills and objectives taught in the classroom. These assignments will be checked for understanding and may be incorporated as part of a class work grade. Long term assignments are graded and averaged as test scores.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

I expect each student to be respectful and follow each class rule. Your behavior is one of the very most important things in Ms. Martin’s room!
The students will sign the conduct binder earning a “conduct strike” every time they break a rule after being warned. Their conduct sheets will go home every Wednesday for parents to review, sign, and return.

CLASSROOM FEES
In order to cover the costs for the materials ordered, we are requiring a $10 classroom fee from each student. Please pay either in cash or make checks payable to Holly Hill Elementary. This fee covers the cost of the planner, and Colonial Day activities and costumes.

This fee is due no later than
Friday, August 14th.
