What was the GOAL of the Exploration

Sir Walter Raleigh wanted to establish a colony, so he reached NC and called it Virginia, named after the virgin queen, Elizabeth

Sir Walter Raleigh got to Virginia and established a colony in Virginia/ present day NC in 1585-1588. 1578 Raleigh set out with his half-brother, Sir Humphrey Gilbert on a voyage to North America to find the Northwest Passage. There were Cherokee Indians at North Carolina and is unknown if Sir Walter Raleigh encountered them.

Raleigh attacked the Spanish and sentenced 2 years in prison and death. No, things didnt go right as planned. He was not successful because he failed to colonize Roanoke Island.
