RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

• This isn’t a fight
• Opinions w/o facts is useless
• It ends when the bell rings

ART OF ARGUMENT

• Gather Facts and identify conclusion
• Use facts (evidence) to make (claim)
• Link statement to overall conclusion

ANY ISSUES IN THAT ARGUMENT?

EXAMPLE:GOAT

• Drake is #1 selling rap artist
• The more you sell the better you are
• Therefore,Drake is the best rapper of all time

THE COUNTER

• You just developed a counter argument!
• This is a first go, so expect the counters to be minimal…for now.

ISRAEL/PALESTINE HAS THE BEST CLAIM TO THE DISPUTED LAND.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WITH YOUR TEAM

• What facts in our hw relate to your side?
• Are some facts stronger than others?
• Is there any background or other examples we can look to as precedent.?

WHAT TO AVOID

• Emotional appeals w/o facts
• Repetition
• Fear
• Judgement
