1. It's for a great cause!

As of 2015, 95% of all funds raised through Operation First Response go directly to help wounded troops and their families.

Operation First Response is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit organization formed in the State of Virginia. Your donations are tax deductible and are used to support our nation’s wounded troops and their families with personal and financial needs. Services are provided from the onset of injury, throughout their recovery period and along their journey from military life into the civilian world. Financial aid varies as each case is based on individual needs ranging from rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing, and travel expenses.

2. the 5k Run is all on Grass

Our 5k loops twice around Rose Tree Park. There are hills, so it's not an easy run, but our runners have told us they love it! And, the run is completely lined by American flags.

5. We love to celebrate Our runners !

Our runners inspire us and bring a great spirit to the race! We had a father and daughter win in our first year. We've had kids run the 5k and then play in the kid zone the rest of the day. We've cheered on inspiring runners that came with one of our sponsors, Prosthetic Innovations, and ran their first 5k using a prosthetic leg (not an easy task on that grass!), We've had parents push kids in strollers (also not easy through grass and over hills) and some people even run with their dogs--if the dogs are leashed and friendly, and the weather isn't too hot.

Our first year we had about 80 runners and last year we had close to 200! We love our runners!

6. top Male & Female get awards

The top overall male and female finishers each get awarded after the race with some goodies. And our top three finishers in each age group get dogtag medals.

8. hang out for the day

join in the family fun!
The Warriors 5k was added to our signature event, the Walk for the Wounded, in 2014.

Our Walk for the Wounded begins with a ceremony honoring our troops directly after the run ends. Usually, you get to hear directly from the people and families we help. They become like family to us.

After the ceremony, the Walk for the Wounded (about half the length of the run) begins. Throughout the day, we'll have music, food, beverages, a kids zone with a zip line and other fun activities.

Go to http://www.walkforthewounded.org/ for information about the day's events and if you want to register any friends or family for the walk.
(Run registration is through the RunSignUp page)

and real heroes

9. You might meet the Phillies Phanatic
We're lucky to have the Phillies Phanatic come to the day's events (usually in the early afternoon) each year. And we're even luckier to have many veterans and active military join us as well. They've served their country, so we feel it's an honor to celebrate and serve them.

thank you!

10. our veterans really appreciate your support
The veterans and military members we've met and helped are so humble and gracious. They don't ask for attention, but many definitely need and deserve our support.
