HOUSEHOLD

  • Families could have around 8 to 10 kids
  • Entertainment was in the form of monopoly, scrabble, and other games.
  • They would also entertain themselves by attending socials
  • Kids would entertain themselves by playing outside like riding bikes, climbing trees, or playing marbles.
  • People also entertained themselves by reading.

  • Some kids did not go to school because they had to work in the fields
  • Teachers were like older students and often were not paid
  • Students were not divided up into grade, but taught in one big classroom.

CLOTHING

  • Several children were clothed with hand me downs.
  • Dresses and shirts were made from feed sacks

FOOD

  • Most families grew their own food on farms and in gardens.
  • Children had to milk cows and gather eggs from livestock early in the morning before starting their day.

CHORES

  • Women cooked, mended clothing, and maintained the house as well as the chicken coops and the outhouse.
  • Men and children took care of farming and outside jobs
