John 13:4-5
so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Salvation (The Blood)

  • so he GOT UP (1 Cor. 15:4, Acts 2:24)
  • from the meal (Lk. 22:20, Jn. 19:30)
  • took off his outer clothing (Jn. 20:5-7, Phil. 3:21)
  • and wrapped a towel around his waist. (Mk. 10:45, Eph. 6:14, Isa. 11:5, Rev. 1:13)

Sanctification (The Water)

  • ..."Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."(Amos. 3:3, Heb. 2:11)
  • ...Jesus told him, “Whoever has already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean. And you are clean... (Eph. 5:25-26, Matt.26:28, Rom. 12:2, Jn. 15:3)

Jn. 19:34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.


Hebrews 10:14
For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever (Salvation by the blood of Jesus.)
those who are being made holy. (Sanctification by the washing of water by the word.)
