On May 20, 2013 in Moore, Oklahoma, a tornado struck. It started by warm air and cold air create an instability in the atmosphere.
The tornado caused 24 people to die and 212 people to be injured.
The tornado was 1.3 miles wide at its peak and left a 14 mile wide path
Before the tornado, Moore was a happy little town.
After the tornado, Moore was a sad town.
The Moore Oklahoma tornado produced several more tornados over the Great Plains.
Mostly birds were affected because the tornado tore down the trees that birds might have been living in.
Some of the abiotic things that got destroyed were bricks or steel that made the houses up. The top layer of the dirt was destroyed. Any furniture was destroyed.
The tornado killed animals, disrupting the food chain and food web.
Caused $2 billion on damage. Highest wind was 210mph. Formed around 2:56 - 3:35 pm.
