DAILY ACTIVITIES

  • You have to plan the menu for the day.
  • Keep inventory and make sure you have enough food and if you don't order more.
  • Maintains the food control in the kitchen.
  • Manages the kitchen and maintains order.
  • Prepares food for the customers.

TRAINING

  • You can start by going to culinary school but you don't necessarily have too.
  • You can go through a 4 year college and get the necessary skills to be a chef.
  • Also you can start right away being a kitchen assistant or an apprentince.
  • If you chose to go right into the field you may start with a low salary.

LOCATION

  • If you are a chef you could have a bunch of places to work.
  • Restaurants, bakery, at peoples houses and any places where food is served.

  • You need to be able to cook.
  • You need to be able to take criticism and not be offended.
  • Passion for the culinary arts.
  • Leadership skills.
  • You have to be able to communicate well.

MATH SKILLS NEEDED TO BE A CHEF

  • You have to be able to multiply fractions to get specific
  • amounts for dishes you are making
  • You have to be able to measure and weigh items.
  • You have to be able to make double portions and half a portion for recipes.

MATH PROBLEM

  • A chef had 80lbs of prime rib to sell to his customers.
  • 20 people ordered 8oz servings and 20 ordered
  • 6oz servings how much does he have left to sell.

ANSWER TO THE MATH PROBELM

  • 20x8= 160 160/16= 10
  • 20x6=120 120/16= 7.5
  • 10+7.5=17.5
  • 40-17.5=22.5
  • 22.5lbs of prime rib left to sell
