Introduction To Islam
Islam is a monotheistic religion based on the belief of one God.Islam began on the Arabian Peninsula in Makkah. Muhammad started Islam when he got a message from the Angel Gabriel. Gabriel said there is one God and you (Muhammad) are the messenger. This happened in 610 CE. This happened because Muhammad got a call from God to be the newest Prophet

Abraham The Prophet
God tested the prophet Abraham’s loyalty by telling him to leave Hagar and their infant son Ishmael in a dry valley. As Hagar searched relentlessly for water, a miracle happened. A spring came up at her son’s feet. This spring became known as Zamzam. The Qur’an said Abraham built a house of worship at this place, and named it the Ka’bah. Eventually people started settling near it.

Muhammad
Muhammad was a merchant who's parents had early deaths. He lived with his uncle Abu Talib when he was a boy. As an adult he is nicknamed the "Trustworthy" for being such a honest merchant. When Muhammad was praying in a cave one day and he got visited by the Angel Gabriel and Gabriel told Muhammad that there is one God and you (Muhammad) are the messenger. Muhammad thought he was crazy and only confined in his family. After a year or two he started to tell more people and finally got more followers called Muslims. Muhammed could not read or write but some of his followers who could copied the messages Muhammad was receiving and made the Koran the mu…

Khadijah
Khadijah was the wife of Muhammad. Khadijah and Muhammad got married at the age of 25 and had children though only one Fatima continued the blood line of Muhammad. When Muhammad came back from his message from God, Khadijah counseled him and helped him through it. Khadijah became the first to commit to Islam

The Koran
The Koran was the holy book of Islam. Whenever Muhammad would get a message he would ask one of his followers who could read and write to write the message down in the Koran

Muslims
Muslim which means "though who surrenders to God." were followers of Muhammad and the Islam Religion. Some Muslims thought that everyone should be a Muslims so often Religious wars with fought with Muslims. Muslims follow a set of rules called the Five Pillars. They pray 5 times a day at least and have many Religious fasts.

Abu Talib
Abu Talib was the uncle that Muhammad grew up with and was a very respected merchant. He was one of the reasons why the Religion of Islam was so successful. When Muhammad was gathering followers in his home town of Makkah the leaders of the town did not like Muhammad starting this Religion because Makkah was polytheistic and Muhammad was proposing a monotheistic Religion. They could not do anything to Muhammad because Abu Talib was his uncle and Abu Talib was protecting Muhammad

Makkah
Makkah was the town that Muhammad grew up in. Makkah is a great trading port and there were many travelers. Before Muhammad the town of Makkah worshiped 360 different gods and goddesses. When Muhammad came the leaders were not liking Muhammad's new religion. Many wars were fought between Muslim's and Makkah but the Muslim's eventually and Muhammad made his last voyage to Makkah and as he laid down dying he told the muslims to be good to each other and remember his teachings. Muslims now make a pilgrimage to Makkah as that is one of the five pillars.

Islam
Islam is a religion started by Muhammad in Makkah. Islam is a monotheistic religion that believes in "Allah" which means God. The followers of Islam were called Muslims which means though who surrender to God. This religion started around 612 CE.

The Night Journey
The Night Journey was when Muhammad flew across the night sky on a winged horse to Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, Muhammad met all of the great prophets before him (Moses, Jesus etc) and kept climbing higher and higher in the night sky until he finally met God in heaven.
