FAMILY AND GENERAL PRACTITONERS

2nd choice career.

A family practitioner is a physician who diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and injures that commonly occur in the general population.

Employment estimate and mean wages for this occupation are :
Employment : 120,860. Mean hourly wage : $88.43. Employment RSE : 1.9%. Mean annual wage : $183,940. Wage RSE : 0.9%

Family practitioners also

  • Order, preform, and interpret tests, analyze records and examine information to diagnose the patient.
  • Collect and record medical history and patient information.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.

CON :

  • Deliver babies
  • Operate on patients to remove, repair or improve functioning or injured body parts or systems.
  • Train residents, medical students, and other health care providers.
  • Prepare government or organized reports that include birth, death and disease statistics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience : extensive skill, knowledge, and experience. Many require more than 5 years of experience.
  • Education : a bachelors degree is the minimum formal education, however many require a masters degree and / or a Ph.D, M.D or J.D
  • Training : employes may need some on site training, but most assume the person already has the required skills, knowledge, work related experience and/or training.

Although this isn't my first choice, this is still something I would love to do because I would love to help people and know I could help make them better.
