- Get assigned jobs by deputy
- Deputy makes assessments and reports

- They work for the rest of the day
- Work day ends at around 8 o'clock

IN THE MINE
- While 500ft below the surface, miners have to eat very little
- Since miners have to crouch while working, a full stomach causes heartburn

WOMAN AND THE MINES
- Before the 1842 Royal Commission reported, women worked down the mines.
- In later years woman worked on the surface and supported their husbands that worked in the mines
