The program runs every day from 2:30-6:00 PM. Activities include: homework hall, art, PE, computers, and field trips. Kids Cafe serves a hot meal for dinner each day. Contact Jade Figueroa for more information.
Our 5th grade students participate in Ballet West’s I CAN DO dance program. The receive dance instruction weekly for the entire school year. Both a school performance and a multi-school performance held at the end of the year.
The University of Utah’s Piano Outreach Program (UPOP) is free to Washington Students. Graduate students teach piano lessons twice a week (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays after school for 45 minutes. You can register students in the office.
Another partnership program we have with the U is Running Forward. The group meets after school on Fridays in the gym for an hour. There are several events that the students are invited to participate in through the the year.
Washington is a recipient of the national Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP). Twice a week all students are provided with fruits or vegetables as a snack, often they are exposed to produce they may not have tried before.
Parents, we are looking to grow our School Community Council (SCC) and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Be involved and help us make school-based decisions, all while supporting our teachers!
Washington is currently an IB candidate school. The IB philosophy focuses on teaching students to be critical thinkers and have a global perspective.You can find out more at ibo.org.
Washington is a Title I school. This means that we receive federal funding. That funding is based on the number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. You can find more information on our school website.
We are happy to meet your language needs. We can arrange a translator when needed. We have several people in our building who are proficient in Spanish.
We ask that cell phones be put away when students enter the building. If a student has their phone out during the school day they will be given a warning. A second occurrence will result in the phone being taken to the office.
