Educating Eddie

  • The first step in evaluating an app for classroom use is exploring questions.
  • A question to start with could be...
  • "What concepts or activities would you like to cover but don’t have enough time?"
  • This app would really help by giving the children extra practice with math when there is no time in class.

Evaluating Eddie

  • The next step is to determine what skills are being used with the app.
  • This app uses cognitive skills to determine the correct answer to the math problems.
  • When you get the correct math answer "Eddie" jumps up a branch, when the answer is incorrect Eddie jumps off the branch and falls.

  • The next step is testing the app's Instructional Design by asking questions.
  • The question I asked is, "Does it effectively communicate its subject matter?"
  • This app is very effective because it is great practice for a child to learn adding and subtracting.

  • Then you want to evaluate the engagement and motivation.
  • The goal is for the app to be fun and motivating for the child.
  • You want the child to enjoy learning
  • This game is very fun to play and it is teaching the child a lot, this game is very motivating.

Educating Eddie

  • You want to make sure there is a good balance between learning and having fun while playing.
  • The app needs to be just as educating as it is fun.
  • Educating Eddie is a fun app for young children and will be just as educating as doing math worksheets

Educating Eddie

  • The last step is checking its accessibility
  • It is good for the app to have multiple levels of educating.
  • In this app each math problem gets more challenging one after the other. There is a wide range of skill level used.
  • Overall this app is a great educating app

Pre-School Learning

  • The next app I will evaluate using different steps.
  • The first step is to evaluate if it requires the child to be mentally active.
  • This is app is using mental activity because the child has to stop and think about what it is asking and what their suppose to do.
