WOMEN IN THE 1920'S

CALEB and HUNTER

FASHION

  • Vibrant clothing.
  • Many women of the time just wore light-colored dresses.
  • Flappers wore short and tight dresses. Skirts were worn just below the knee.

FLAPPERS

  • Before the Flappers, makeup was only worn by movie stars but the Flappers wore it every day.
  • It became a normal thing for them.
  • Before, women loved and took pride in their long hair but Flappers cut it short which was known as a "bob".

WORK

  • Typists, filing clerks, stenographers, and secrete rial roles all became some of the job opportunities available to women.
  • Usually, they quit work after marriage.

HOUSEWORK

  • New appliances made housework easier for a high price.
  • Vacuum cleaners and washing machines were more common towards the late 20s and early 30s
  • Many women still stayed at the house and tended to things while the man worked.

MANNERS

  • Flappers had no manners they would smoke and drink in public and would openly talk about their sexual life.
  • Flappers also would wear clothes that was inappropriate for women to wear in public
  • Normal women wouldn't do these things.
