PRESENTATION OUTLINE

OWLS

BY JERRED AND HEATHER

Owls are nocturnal which means they are active at night.

They have sharp talons which help them capture their prey.

Having big eyes helps them makes it easier to locate prey.

Their eyes stay fixed in their heads but they make up for it by rotating their heads 270 degrees.

Their eyes don't contain many cones which means they can't see color

The owl can hear with Binaural Hearing.

Their claws are called talons

They have feathers all the way down their legs to protect them from prey.

Their feathers are soft and fluffy so when they fly it's silent.

Owl puke is called a owl pellet.

It is important for baby owls to quickly leave the nest when they are ready so the food supply will grow larger again.

Barn owls can live for 20 years.

Barn owls primarily feed on rats, mice and voles.

They don't lay all the eggs at once so it eases the food supply.
