Owls are nocturnal which means they are active at night.

Owls eyes, ears, talons, and quiet feathers all help them catch prey.

Owls big eyes allow almost every bit of light to enter. This helps their night vision in catching prey.

Owls eyes remain fixed in their heads because there are so many rods packed into their eyes, so there is no room for muscles.

Owls eyes do not contain cones which means they can't see in color.

An owl hears in 3-dimensional and have binaural hearing, allowing it to tell the height and location of something.

Owls claws are called talons.

Owls have feathers all the way down their legs in order to protect them from bites and scratches while catching prey.

Owls are silent when they flap their wings because their feathers are fringed.

An owlet will usually swallow its prey whole at 3 weeks.

An owl pellet is the leftover hair and bones from its prey that it regurgitates.

Barn owls primarily feed on voles, rats, shrews, and birds.

Owls lay their eggs every 2 days so the feeding burden is easier.

It's important for baby owls to fly and leave the nest because their parents will have more food and their own territory.

Barn owls can live up to 20 years.
