MERCURY

THE FIRST PLANET FROM THE SUN
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. It reaches 600 degrees Fahrenheit. It is one of the hottest planets. Plants and animals can not grow or live there. It takes 88 days to go around the sun. Mercury is the smallest planet. It is less than half the size of the Earth.

VENUS

THE SECOND PLANET FROM THE SUN
Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is the hottest planet at 860 degrees Fahrenheit. It has no moons. Venus is smaller than Earth. Plants and animals can not live there. Venus is a gas planet. It takes 224 days to travel around the sun.

EARTH

THE THIRD PLANET FROM THE SUN
Earth is the most important planet. It has plants and animals living on it. It also has water. There is more water than land on this planet. It has one moon. It is a middle sized planet. Over a 1,000 Earths could fit inside Jupiter. Earth is not the biggest or smallest planet. The temperatures vary. It travels around the sun in 365 days.

MARS

THE FOURTH PLANET FROM THE SUN
Mars has 2 moons. It is smaller than Earth. It is nicknamed the red planet. Mars is considered the 'sister' planet to Earth. No person has ever been on Mars but a robot has been. Scientists feel there may have been life on Mars at one time.

JUPITER

THE FIFTH PLANET FROM THE SUN
Jupiter is the largest planet. Over 1,000 Earths would fit inside of it. More than 25,000 Mercurys would fit inside Jupiter. The red spot on Jupiter is a storm. Jupiter has 4 large moons. It has 67 total moons.

SATURN

THE SIXTH PLANET FROM THE SUN
Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. It is the second biggest planet. Saturn's rings are made of dust and rocks. Saturn has 62 moons.

URANUS

THE SEVENTH PLANET FROM THE SUN
Uranus is bigger than Earth. It is very cold.

THE EIGHTH AND FINAL PLANET FROM SUN
It is the coldest planet. It is 328 degrees fahrenheit below zero. Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun. It takes 165 years to go around the sun.
