BACKGROUND: EARLY LIFE

  • He was born in Czechoslovakia on april 28th, 1908
  • He joined the Czechoslovak army
  • He married a woman named Emilie in 1928

OSKAR SCHINDLER

  • He commited espionage for the germans in his home country Czechoslovakia
  • In 1935 is when he first started coming in contact with the nazi organization
  • He rose through the ranks of the German Nazi reich
  • He left his wife after joining the nazis for work
  • He then went to Krakòw and owned a nazi concentration camp and raided jewish peoples homes

IMPACT OF OSKAR SCHINDLER

  • Oskar Schindler made an impact to many jews
  • He did this by buying a ware house and hired jewish people to work there
  • He saved about 1,200
  • He also bribed SS officers to not tell about his operation
  • The business warehouse he bought was called Emalia
  • At its peak in 1944 employed 1,700 and at least 1,000 were Jewish laborers

EXTRA FACTS

  • He operated 2 other factories in krakòw
  • He was arrested for treason for helping Jewish people 3 times but was never charged with a crime
  • Oskar passed away in October 1974 and was buried in Israel in honor of his actions and impact
  • In 1993 the United States holocaust memorial council presented the museums medal of remembrance to Schindler
