GEORGE ORWELL'S QUOTES

THE BASIS OF HUMANITY

"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig and man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." -George Orwell, Animal Farm
---
With this George Orwell is saying that man is malacing and cruel to other creatures. While we think that humanity is being respectful of each other, we are incorrect. Humanity is being kind to all, human or not.

"Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than just ribbons?"
-George Orwell, Animal Farm
---
By this statement, George Orwell means that humans strive for popularity. Though it is not helpful, nor nessisary, every human strives for this. Life is worth much more than prizes and popularity.

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." -George Orwell, Animal Farm
---
By this, Orwell means that while we are under the impression that all humans are equal, we are not. We are like animals when it comes to treating other people with respect. We stoop low in a primal nature, and we are not polite. Under the surface, we are much more conceited than even animals.

"Man serves the interests of no creature himself." -George Orwell, Animal Farm
---
When George Orwell stated this in his book he meant that man are self centered. Man is uninterested with the so-called lowly other creatures that roam the earth. While man is the only intelligent life form on earth. The choices we make and the way we treat others is lowly and unintelligent indeed.
