1. Go to college. You need 2 years of pre-dental education before you can be admitted to dental school.
2. Dental school. To get in, you'll have to take the dental admissions test and score well to be admitted; once in, you'll spend 4 years doing classroom and laboratory work.
3. Complete a graduate program in orthodontics. Most programs take an additional 2 years, either for a masters or doctoral degree. You may also have a postgraduate residency of an additional 2 years.
-Dr. Jacquie Smiles "I was always attracted to smiles. Anything I could do to make someone smile. I wanted to be a part of it. It just made me happy. What better way to be an orthodontist."
-Dr. Frankie Muniz "I am keeping with tradition today. After I learned of my Golden Globe nomination, I went to the dentist, so today, let's make it the orthodontist."
