Lipids

  • Lipids are fat.
  • Lipids can also be used to make steroids or wax.
  • The monomer of a lipid is glycerol and fatty acids.
  • The elements that make up lipids are, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
  • Some of the functions of a lipid are, they store energy for mobilization

carbohydrates

  • A carbohydrate is a large group of organic compounds occurring in foods and
  • Living tissues.
  • The monomer of carbohydrates is Monosaccharides
  • The elements that makes up carbohydrates are hydrogen, carbon and oxygen.
  • Some examples of carbohydrates are candy bars and cookies.

Carbohydrates functions

  • Energy supply for the brain.
  • Avoiding ketosis from the breakdown of fatty acids.
  • Cellular and recognition .

Nucleic Acids

  • A complex organic substance in living cells.
  • A monomer of Nucleic acids are Nucleotides.
  • Elements are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen nitrogen phosphorous, carbohydrates.
  • The function of Nuclic acids are to make up DNA and RNA
  • Examples are DNA and RNA

proteins

  • A long chain of amino acids twisted around in a knot.
  • There are 20 amino acids that make up a protein.
  • Made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfer and selenium.
  • Antibody bind to foreign partials to protect the body.
  • Some examples are collagen and myosin.
