PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL MEMBRANE

The wall that protects the cell from the outside
The cell membrane is like a fence around the school because it protects everything in the cell from outside. The fence around a school yard protects the children inside of it.

CYTOPLASM

The fluid that fills the cell
Cytoplasm is like the buildings inside the fenced area. It's like the buildings in a school because they are what fill out the fence and the cytoplasm fills the cell.

NUCLEUS

Stores and protects the cells DNA
The nucleus is like the principal of the school. The principal runs everything and has all the information to keep the school going like the cells nucleus does.

CYTOSKELETON

Proteins that change to meet the needs of a cell
Cytoskeleton is like a school teacher because they are always changing to meet the needs of a cell. Teachers are always changing plans to meet the needs of a student getting a good grade and learning material.

SMOOTH ER

Aids in the transportation of proteins
Smooth ER are like hallways. They are like hallways because they are transporting proteins and hallways transport students.

ROUGH ER

Aids in the transportation of proteins
Rough ER are also like hallways because they transfer proteins around the cell like hallways do for students.

RIBOSOME

Links amino acids together to form proteins
Ribosomes are like students because they form whole proteins and are small structures on a surface. Students form the whole student body and make up the school and are each small parts of the school.

GOLGI APPARATUS

Enclosed spaces that process, sort, and deliver proteins
The Golgi apparatus are like the students that deliver notes all around school because the Golgi apparatus process, sort, and deliver proteins like the students do for notes.

VESICLE

Sac that divides and transports materials
A vesicle is like a front office worker because they tell students to go to place to place. They transport materials around like front office workers do.

MITOCHONDRIA

Supplies energy to the cells
The mitochondria is like the cafeteria because it provides energy for the cell. The cafeteria provides food for students which is energy for them.

VACUOLE

Fluid-filled space used for storage of materials
A vacuole is like classrooms because they are used for the storage of materials. Classrooms are also used for storage of learning materials and storage for students.

LYSOSOME

Membrane-bound organelle that contains enzymes
Students are like lysosome because they digest the information the teachers give them. Lysosome act as a digestive system for the cell. Also, lysosome are membrane-bound and students are school bound.

CELL WALL

Structure that provides rigid support
School security guards are like the cell walls because they provide support and safety. They sometimes surround the school and guard the gates to protect from damage like the cell walls do.

CHLOROPLAST

Helps plants convert solar energyto chemical energy
The lunch ladies are kind of like chloroplast because they make food so that students can get energy. Chloroplast make solar energy into chemical energy and that's sort of what lunch ladies do.
