PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PARTS OF A CELL

BY ZALEZHA RIVERA

NUCLEUS

  • Control center of the cell
  • Looks like a cracked egg
  • Stores DNA
  • Used to create protein
  • Carries out other cell processes

MITOCHONDIRON

  • "Power house" of the cell
  • Found in plant and animal cell
  • Releases energy stored in food molecules
  • Cellular respiration

VACUOLE

  • Large ballon-shaped storage basin
  • Larger in plant cells than animal cells
  • Stores excess nutrients, water&waste for the cell

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Small folded membrane organelle
  • Appears similar to SER
  • Puts "finishing touches" on proteins&liquids
  • Coming from RER and SER
  • Buds off to create organelles called lysosomes

RIBOSOMES

  • Small sack created in the nucleolus
  • Pair up to create proteins

ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

  • Folds that surround the nucleus
  • Synthesizes protein

NUCLEOLUS

  • Dense region in the middle of the nucleus
  • Responsible for creating ribosomes

CYTOSKELETO

  • Made of tiny hairs&tiny tubes
  • Micro filaments
  • Microboles
  • Gives the cell support
  • Allows for movement within the cell

CELL MEMBRANE

  • Double layer structure that surrounds the entire cell
  • Isolates cell from surrounding environment
  • Allows stuff to exit and enter

LYBOSOMES

  • Small membranous sac of digestive enzymes
  • Digests food, invaders, and old organelles
