Description: The metamorphosis art soldier or The General's Family, by Octavio Ocampo, is a detailed painting set in a courtyard or street side. Ten people were cleverly hidden throughout the painting presenting as an optical illusion; four of which make up the emphasis in the picture. Easily seen is the old man's head set on profile, but maybe a little less seen are the the people making up the face. An old man standing on the left side of the head makes up the chin, nose, cheek, and partially the forehead. While to the right, a young woman stands holding her baby forming the head's ear and coat collar.

Although these four are most clearly seen, there are six faces hidden, almost framing the larger head. In the upper left corner, five faces are found either on profile or looking forward. The columns form, on either side, three outlined profile faces whose features are painted in the sky. The bird forms another profile face and between the two "columns" there is a face looking strait forward. On the far upper right corner however, there is only one profile face hidden between the "column" and the dry grass. This optical illusion is created by morphing natural elements, such as grass, stone, and even people, together to create something out of many components.

History: This piece of art was created by Mexican artist Octavio Ocampo in 1990, as a representation of his low-class family and poor upbringing.
