• the U.s. intercepted a call from a trusted courier of osama bin laden
• this allowed the c.i.a. to track it to a compound

• it was impossible to identify bin laden due to extensive precautions carried out by all of the houses occupants
• before the go was given, the seals trained on a mock version of the compound

• A DEVGRU TEAM WAS SENT TO bILAL tOWN, abBOTTABAD, Pakistan TO CAPTURE OR kill oSAMA bIN LADEN IN HIS PRIVATE COMPOUND ON MAY 2, 2011
• the strike was given its go on may 2 when a moonless night had presented itself, allowing the 3 chinooks and 2 modified stealth blackhawks an extra layer of stealth
• the op went sour when one of the black hawks had a technical error that grounded the bird, cutting the bird in half
• surprisingly no soldiers were lost in the crash so the operation continued
• after killing three men, one woman, and bin laden, the compound was searched where the operators found multiple drives containing info and files about Al-queda
• the downed blackhawk was destroyed and the operators took bin laden's body and the drives and pulled out
• there is very much controversy about what the u.s did with bin laden's body. officials say that his body was treated to proper Islamic practices, and then was dropped off the uss carl vinson in a weighted bag, but there is no photographs or evidence

my thoughts

• in light of all the horrible crimes bin laden committed, i conclude that the u.s was the hero here. i also believe that taking down terrorist leaders ASAP is a strategy that the U.S. should continue executing
