operation overlord took place on June 6 through August 30 1944

WHO
U.S., Germany, France, Great Britan, Canada.

HISTORY
Nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on June 6th. More than three million allied troops were in France by the end of August. Operation Overlord was the code name for the battle of Normandy. The decision to cross a channel in 1944 was taken at the trident conference in Washington by Dwight D. Eisenhower. It took over a year to organize the invasion of D Day.

ABOUT
Over 425,000 allied and German troops were killed, wounded or went missing over the battle of Normandy. Of those 209,000 were allied casualties. 37,000 ground forces casualties. 16,714 amongst the allied air forces. The reason why we were there was to stop Germany from taking over anymore countries and to free France
