PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Once there was a counting wizard...

he loved to count!

As he counted, he created a number line to keep track of his counting.

That number line started at his house and went on, and on, and on....

forever!!!!

It started on his counting table

and continued on up to the stars

and through all the heavens.

From there, the number line took a sharp left and wove itself back down to the earth

and wormed

it's way around the Earth's center.

No one really knew just how far the wizard's number line went. Legend says it was a giant line that went from the wizard's counting table

up to the top of space,

through the Earth,

And down to the bottom of space.

No one knows for sure.

Meanwhile...

there was a very kind and giving king who loved the world so much

that he wanted to buy it for all the people in the world.

Did he have enough money?

so he started to count his money.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5....

Uh, what comes next?

(The king, while very kind, was not super smart).

As you can see, he could only count to 5!

yikes!

So he went to the counting wizard and asked him to count his riches.

but, All the king's money was behind a magical gate.

To open it, you had to add and subtract, but the King forgot the answers!

So the wizard got to work.

The gate sang out, 'What is 947 minus 48 plus 343?'

The wizard began to count to 947 along his number line.

Then he counted backwards by 48, then

forward by 343.

I've got it!

The answer is 1,242 he said calmly.

The gate said, 'well done', and the doors opened.

the money was piled so high, it disappeared into the clouds.

And so the wizrd counted, day and night, until one day,

8 and a half years later,

panting and huffing for breath,

He was finally done.

Sadly, the wizard told the kind that he did not have enough

to buy the whole world.

The king was very sad.

A blacksmith overheard them talking and suggested the King borrow some money from the other 4 Kings.

And so the wizard counted the money of the

Other 4 Kings.

Here is the result:

Riches of the 5 Kings

The other kings agreed to lend him the money.

and so the king bought the world for all the people

and he was very, very happy.

the blacksmith made a ruler

to measure the King's smile.

it was 1 foot long!!!
