QUESTION #2

HOW DO THEY CHOOSE PLACES TO HOLD THE OLYMPICS?

To nominate your country to hold the Olympics you need to enter your country to the International Olympic Commission (IOC).

Once your city has applied to the IOC they will investigate your city based on a criteria. If the IOC agrees that a city has fulfilled the criteria the city is considered as a ‘Candidate City'.

CRITERIA

  • The city needs to be fit enough to host the Olympic Games & be able to handle the high level of security needed at the games.
  • The city needs to convince residents that the expenses of covering the Olympics (which may be covered by raising taxes).
  • The cities needs to maintain a highly positive media exposure to carry the games.

WHAT IS A RULE?

A RULE CAN BE A FORMAL ORDER OF DIRECTION OR A PROCEDURE.

OLYMPIANS ARE INFORMED OF THE RULES THROUGH

  • The News
  • They are probably informed of the rules at the Olympics
  • The Newspaper
  • Internet/Websites

Olympians are told the rules of he event at the time, on websites and probably in the news or local papers. I'm guessing that they are sent the rules through email. If they don't do that they probably should.
