  • The okapi are very tall so they can reach the leaves of the trees
  • The okapi have long tongue so they can take off the leaves
  • Their tongue is about 18 inches long
  • The okapis have long ears to hear every sound that means danger

WHERE THE OKAPI CAN BE FOUND

The okapi are only found in a small rainforest in Africa.
It is called the Ituri forest and it is in the democratic republic of Congo.
There is also many zoos around the world that they have okapis

The okapi live in the rainforest. The rainforest is hot. In the rainforest are many plants and trees.

WHY THE OKAPI IS GETTING EXTINCT

The okapi is going to be extinct because the okapi is a target because of their skin. Another reason is because of the war of Congo.

One way they are protecting the okapis is by putting them in zoo so they the people can't hunt them. There is a wildlife reserve made in 1992. There is a web side named saveTheokapi.com
