PRESENTATION OUTLINE

YOUNG LOVE

BY LAWSON WHEATLEY

Romeo and Juliet teaches about young love through its characters, Romeo and Juliet, where they have to go through many hardships because their parents were warring against each other.

"Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight.
Let's see for means. Oh mischief, thou art swift
To enter in the thoughts of desperate men," (V.i.36). This quote is referring to the death of Juliet and Romeo planning to lay with her that night, which can be assumed to mean that he might take his life because of the previous references about suicide in the passage.

"If that thy bent of love be honourable,
Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow," (II.ii.149). This was just the night after they met and Juliet is already proposing marriage which is a secret within a day of them meeting. Which is a very impulsive decision made on their part but also makes it hard for the rest of their very short lives after that time, it made it so that some decisions that were irrational were made.

Connection to today
These days some people are moving too fast for our times where they marry right when they turn 18 only to find that their marriage doesn't work out a year later, or even just a month later.
