NUTURE THE CULTURE OF CARING

ROTN (DR) LANRE SHOYINKA .PAG

Untitled Slide

  • Too often we underestimate the power of a simple touch, smile, kind compliment or the smaller act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around (Leo Buscaglia) An American whose appellation is Dr of love.
  • From the above topic, it's an attitude that needs to be cultivated and grow in it. It can sometimes be natured or by nature.

WHEN YOU CARE U BRING:

  • Relief
  • Hope
  • Assurance to others and people who are deeply grateful when one shows them that they care.
  • I encourage we should all times within our capabilities to lend a hand to someone in genuine need
  • Caring brings a genuine and also authentic friendships & of course people you care for will pray ceaselessly for you. In turn you get Gods blessing.

Untitled Slide

  • In 1997, our rotary theme was "SHOW ROTARY CARES" and in the 2000s it was "LEND A HAND" that is to show that Rotary cares for our community, the works and it's people.

Untitled Slide

  • I dare to say here that we care for others forgetting our own in need, our guests and visiting Rotarians.
  • We overlook the need to address members personal issues, family health issues, marital difficulties, business or job crisis ; of course this rear its ugly face by low meeting attendance and worse still losing members.

STORY 1

  • A member of Rotary Club of ABC was critically sick for months on bed, the only thing he received from his club was a letter of termination...

HOW DO WE CARE

  • Do it. Don't just say it. (Actions speaks louder than words)
  • Go into the persons experience and encourage him or her
  • Do something unexpected
  • Sharing is caring
  • Wake up every morning with an appreciation for others

CHALLENGES

  • We are enveloped with a lot of troubles ourselves
  • Fear of unknown
  • People not opening up

CONCLUSION

  • We care or I care (which I prefer) is beneficial to others and yourself, but do it more not because of the latter.

STORY 2

  • A young man took his very old dad to a restaurant for a diner...
  • You left a lesson for every son and hope for every father. The whole restaurant was silent.
