Micronutrients

  • Small nutrients
  • Do NOT provide energy for the body

  • Compound composed of sugars
  • Simple (sugars) and complex (starches)
  • Complex take longer to digest = stay full longer

  • Provides long-term energy
  • Cushion for comfort, insulation
  • Helps absorb fat-soluable nutrients (vit A, D, E, K)
  • Triglycerides, Omega-3-Fatty Acids, cholesterol

  • Made up of amino acids
  • Helps the body grow and repair
  • Meats, dairy, seafood, beans, tofu, eggs

  • Causes illness
