REGION

  • Ancient crossroads
  • Connection between Middle East and Africa to Europe by port (Jaffa port, Gaza port) or land paths.
  • Western Civilization begins (Mesopotamia aka Iraq)
  • Oil line (since WW1)

REGIONAL

  • In ancient times, important powers: Egypt in the south, Assyria in the North, Babylon and Persia in the east. in the West is the Mediterranean Sea with its significant empires of Greece and Rome. After WW1, Britain and France want his area for Oil (pipe line from Iraq), after 1948 Israel enables access of the West to the Middle East, especially the U.S.A

ESSENTIAL TIMELINE 1

  • - 5778 world created
  • - 1800 The Patriachas. 12 tribes leave to Egypt.
  • - 1400 Exodus from Egypt, arrive back to land.
  • - 1000 King David. His son Solomon builds the Temple
  • 0 Jesus born
  • + 33 Jesus is crucified
  • + 70 Temple destructed by Romans
  • + 325 Roman Empire becomes Christian

ESSENTIAL TIMELINE 2

  • 625 The magical flight of Mohammad to a Jerusalem conquer region + Muslim conquest
  • 1099 Crusaders invade for 200 years
  • After crusaders until 1917 area controlled by Muslims and especially the Ottmans (aka Turks)
  • 1948 Israel established

JEWISH RELIGION

  • Line from Adam to Abraham to Moses (a line of the Chosen People)
  • God appears only once (14 c. B.C) in Mt. Sinai and gives the scriptures (written tradition) and the Oral tradition.
  • Jews must do all it (scriptures) says according to interpretation (oral tradition) by the rabbis.
  • The Bible consists of the first 5 books (scriptures) and prophesies and histories.

CHRISTIAN RELIGION

  • God created a new agreement (new covenant) and creates a New Testament by Jesus.
  • Jesus born and dies as a Jew, his followers create Christianity (the religion of the one who was crucified)
  • Jesus is: The son of God, manifestation of God on earth, the Messiah (redeemer of the world)
  • Cancelling the commandments of the scriptures (aka Old Testament) and opening the belief (the Gospel) not only to the Jews but to all of the world (the Chosen people are not exclusive anymore)

MUSLIM RELIGION

  • 571 Muhammad was born
  • Muhammad is the last and most important prophet
  • Acknowledges the roots of Islam in Judaism and Christianity
  • The Quran and Muhammad’s life actions is the guide book for personal,political and world order.
  • 2 main sects: Sunis (90% of Muslims including Saudi, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan) and 10% Shiites ( Iran, Some of Lebanon)
