SAINT IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

  • St. Ignatius was a Spanish Basque priest and theologian.
  • St. Ignatius founded and became the first Superior General of a religious order called the Society of Jesus
  • St. Ignatius is remembered as a talented spiritual director and a foremost patron saint of soldiers.

SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER

  • St. Francis Xavier was a Navarrese Basque Roman Catholic missionary.
  • St. Francis Xavier co-founded the Society of Jesus.
  • St. Francis Xavier was one of the first of seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, Paris.

  • Pierre was a French priest, theologian and paleontologist.
  • Pierre’s erudite writings combined Catholic theology with evolution and other scientific theories.

  • Due to his life and work, St. Peter Claver became the patron saint of slaves.
