  • First inhabitants were the ainu.
  • The ainu were thought to come from central asia
  • Ainu were driven farther north by monogolid invaders
  • In 1910 japan formally joined with korea

CLIMATE

  • North korea has a continental climate
  • Distinct four seasons
  • Short summer, that is hot,humid,and rainy
  • Long winters that have blizzards
  • korea has oceanic climate and continental climate

  • There is 10 providences
  • All the providences have really long names
  • Such as chagang-do and hamgyōng-pukdo
  • The country is 120,540 sq. km.

  • Amnokkang and yalu river are the biggest rivers in N. Korea
  • Mount Paektusan is the largest mt. in N. Korea
  • With the height of 2,774 m. Above sea level
  • 70% of the region is hilly and mountainious

AGRICULTURE

  • Each cooperative has 300 families on 1,200 acres
  • The farms are controlled by the management of the commities
  • The committees issue orders to work teams, the set the
  • Ammount and type of seeds and fertilizer to be used
  • They also establish production quotas

  • N. Korea is known to have about 200 mineral resources of economic value
  • Most important resources are iron ore and coal
  • Even though greater emohasis has been given to the extraction of gold, magnesite,
  • Lead, and zinc

  • Textiles, food processing, machine building, military products
  • Mining, metallurgy, and petrochemicals are major industries
  • North korea has abundant hydroelectric resources and is rich with minerals
  • It employs 64 percent of the north korean workforce

POLITICAL GEOGRAPHY

  • The popularion in north korea in 2014
  • Was about 24 million people
  • About 10% of koreans combjned is korean decent
  • The supreme leader of N. Korea is Kim Jong-Eun
  • North Korea is a communist country
