THREE PLACES TO VISIT IN NORTH CAROLINA

Chimney rock
It is 4,228 feet above sea level. Chimney rock is 83 acres long. Chimney rock it is also 325 feet tall.

Blue ridge mountains

Shrub grass grows in the blue ridge mountains. The blue ridge mountains are mountains that go across the eastern United States. Blue ridge mountains are part of the large Appalachian mountain range.

Hatteras island
Hatteras island is home to the 208 foot tall cape lighthouse the tallest lighthouse in the world. There are diamond shoals located on the island .The national park service estimates that over two million cars stop and look at this lighthouses.

  • Lake Waccamaw is the largest of the Carolina bays.
  • There interesting and often ecologically-rich lakes occur in many other states but for some reason are highly concentrated In eastern North Carolina.
  • There are many large reservoirs along the major river systems of the state

RIVER SYSTEMS

  • There are 17 major rivers.
  • Rivers can pass through deep canyons.
  • Most rivers flow generally eastward.

COASTAL PLAINS

  • The coastal plain is the largest geographic area of the state.
  • The national lands are those of the middle Atlantic coastal forest ecoregion
  • The coastal plain begins along the fall line a line of hills which stretch from the Sandhills region along the South Carolina border

  • The piedmont plateau forms the central third of he state.
  • Europeans started settling in the region.
  • The piedmont borders the coastal plain at the fall line.
