The smallpox outbreak effected most of the North American continent. The army suffered of many casualties from the smallpox during the revolution.

DURING THE TIME OF HIS FIRST AND LAST JOURNEY, PEOPLE SUSPECT HE BROUGHT DISEASE ALONG WITH HIM

Fur traders carried fur of animals who had smallpox. Not only did they get infected, but so did the people they traded with.

Overall, it was one of the worst smallpox outbreaks in the world, having the death rate rise between 40% to 47%
