BEGINNING

  • The Normans were the founders of the English Monarchy.
  • They were descendants of Vikings
  • They helped develop the peninsula of France
  • The Dukes had more power than the feudal Lords
  • The Dukes were not subjected to Capetian rulers.

NORMAN INVASION

  • Duke William of Normandy was the leader of the Normans
  • The Normans conquered through the works of Duke William
  • William introduced Norman Feudalism which helped with success
  • The Normans had great military victories
  • War was common, The Capetians and the Normans had conflicts.

  • Internally, the Normans had challenges with Lords and Vassals
  • They fought over power and conflicts between interests
  • Externally the Normans had challenges with the French
  • The Normans wanted to expand, but had to face the Capetians
  • In the end, all conflicts were resolved and power was restored
