PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Edward Snowden

Nobel Peace Prize

WHAT HE DID

  • Edward put his own life in danger to expose the truth about the government.
  • He disclosed classified NSA documents to several media outlets for the good of the people.
  • This revealed operational details of a global surveillance apparatus run by the NSA
  • People were being watched and they didn't even know it. So he exposed the information to all.
  • His release of classified material was called the most significant leak in US.

WHY HE SHOULD BE NOMINATED

  • In my opinion he opened the eyes of America.
  • Not knowing that the government was spying on everything we did is a scary thing.
  • I firmly respect his actions in revealing this information to us.
  • There should not be secrets like that being kept from us because that is against some of our rights as citizens.

IMPACT/ CONFLICT

  • This information has been beneficial to many.
  • In order to protect himself he had to flee the country.
  • I believe in the actions he made and think he should not be punished.
  • The problem is quite obvious, that the citizens of America were being spied on without knowing.
  • This affected all US citizens and everyone in America that used Internet or used the phone.
